HOME
St. Vincent's Technical School and Home, Maggona, Sri Lanka, is an Institute for under privileged children, founded in 1881 by the Oblate missionary Priests as the first Social Service Institute to be established in Sri Lanka. Technical School and its residence is run as one of the missions of St Vincent's Home which is managed by resident Priests & Brothers of the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI).

The Institute provides a loving home, spiritual care, health care, education, and full support for wellbeing .  Some of the children are orphans, while some are abandoned by their families due to financial or personal reasons, children living in difficult circumstances in their homes, some traumatized and unmanageable at home due to temperament reasons. The children are sent here by the Department of Probation and the Juvenile Courts of Sri Lanka.  We have a Technical/Vocational Training School and courses are conducted in Carpentry, Welding & Lathe Mechanic, Automobile Mechanism, Building & Industrial Electrician and Air Condition & Refrigeration.

The aim of St. Vincent's Home is to protect, educate and train the children and adolescents in Life-Affirming Activities & that they will be able to help our country and help our communities to flourish and be responsible citizens of Sri Lanka.

What we do...

For the greater glory of God.

Personality Building - Healing
A good personality plays a key role in helping our youngsters develop a career thereby enabling them to reach high levels in the society.

Personal attention by our trained staff to each child in our facility in a deeply religious and calming atmosphere helps them reach this goal.

Support with psychological counselling and therapy is required for the children who are overwhelmed by loses and hurts.
Education
Education is a right to any individual. But the reality is that many children are deprived of when they are recruited. A good education helps propel a person through life.

Our program has both Sinhala and English Language courses to literate the children as a necessity.

Our zealous and dedicated teachers equipped with specialized skills to handle the unique needs of our students has already developed great individuals to the society.
Vocational Training
Engaging in a good and responsible profession enables an individual reach self-actualization.

Our trained and dedicated staff combined with the training facilities and equipment provides the motivation and training to reach this goal.

Qualifications make a person important and availability as an apprentice in vocation adds value and dignity. Trained technicians gain public recognition and a demand of their service.
Work Experience
Trial of the education and vocational training completes an individual's preparation for a career. On the job training and producing various commercial goods adds value to the trainee.

We have already produced services inhouse and outside work sites and commercial items in our workshops.
